Creating Connections Through Creativity at Family Art Day

This past weekend something special happened at Permission To Play. Families stepped out of their homes and into the studio to create art together. Families who had never met sat side by side and created together. Parents who doubted their artistic skills found themselves making art. Family Art Day was so much fun. Thank you for coming.

Art Welcomes Everyone

Permission To Play is a studio that mostly serves kids but this weekend reminded us that art does not check your age or experience at the door. We are so grateful to every adult who came in and played alongside the kids. Exploring your creativity is fun at any age and this weekend proved it.

Our third Create with Christy is next week.Moms are invited to Create with Christy and the kids have arts and crafts time next door with Krystin.

Let's Talk About Julian McNally @soulcraftsanctum

An exciting part of this weekend was the display of Julian McNally's collection Alchemy. Julian is a local artist who chose Permission To Play to showcase his entire collection for the first time. Hosting Julian's collection added something special to Family Art Day — an inspiration that went beyond what we could have created on our own. We are proud and grateful he chose us.

Thank you to everyone who voted for Julian this weekend. He is now in the Top 5 of The People's Artist national competition and there are still a few days left to vote. Vote free once a day at peoplesartist.org/2026/julian-mcnally. Voting ends June 4th.

His collection remains on display through June 10th. If you missed the weekend come experience it in person before it goes.

Summer Art Camp

One of the most memorable moments happened in the messy paint room. A boy was already painting when a girl walked in. With a big smile he looked up and told her — hey, you have permission to paint on the wall. That simple moment captures everything this place is about. Giving yourself and others permission to explore, create, and enjoy the process without fear or judgment.

We still have spots available for Summer Art Camp. First three weeks in July Monday through Friday — 10am to 3pm — Ages 5 and up.

Every Friday ends with an Artist Showcase and a 6 PM family reception. Your child's art will be up on the walls. You are invited to come celebrate them as the artist they are.
